Six Must Have Items for Fall Maternity Fashion

Fall is hands down, the ultimate season of the year! Besides the Pumpkin Spiced Latte’s, apple picking, and hot cider, Fall is really the only season that I actually know how to put cute outfits together. I was extremely excited when I realized that I’d be in my second trimester during the fall because sporting a cute baby bump is a bold statement accessory all on its own.

The natural transition from late summer to early fall normally includes crisper air and leaves turning remarkable shades of orange, yellow and red, but this year, it also includes my transition from normal clothes to maternity clothing. Maternity clothing has come a long way compared to a few decades ago with matronly pieces that were unappealing to the eye. You can now find plenty of pieces to put together show stopping outfits during the fall.

Of course no one wants to buy a completely new wardrobe that you’ll only be sporting for a short period of time, so here are six essential maternity clothing pieces you need to have in your closet during this season.

Long and Short Sleeve Ruched Shirts

Fall clothing is really about layering different pieces to stay warm, cute, and comfy.  Keeping a couple of plain long and short sleeve shirts are a definite essential since you can easily pair it with jeans and focus on the outerwear and accessories as the statement pieces.

Maternity Jeans and Leggings

Maternity jeans are probably my favorite piece of clothing ever!  The belly bands that are attached to the jeans/leggings are so comfortable and don’t judge, but there’s a slight chance that I’ll continue to wear them after I have my baby.  I suggest that you get a couple of pair of maternity jeans and leggings. Trust me, you’ll be wearing these all of the time.

Ruched T-Shirt Dresses

On the days that I don’t feel like putting an outfit together, you’ll most likely see me a dress with some accessories.  I really like ruched dresses because they grow with you throughout your pregnancy.  You can also either wear them on a laid-back weekend or dress it up for the workweek.

Outerwear-Jackets and Sweaters

This is where I like to start dressing things up and adding my own style.  I personally like the over-sized jacket and sweater look.  I also like to buy sweaters with prints and patterns to compliment the staple t-shirts.

Scarves

My fall obsession has always been scarves.  You can get them at different price points and dress them up with any outfit.  Scarves and other accessories can take an outfit to the next level.

Good quality boots

Investing in a pair of high quality boots is a must while you’re pregnant during the fall.  Between the back pain, leg cramps, and being off balance, you need a pair of boots that will keep you comfortable throughout the day.
